We build operating systems for organisations that never fully close — and we are named after the creature engineered to watch in the dark without making a sound.
Our mark is an owl with one eye open and one eye closed. It is not a wink. It is a promise: something is always watching your operation, so you do not have to.
Strixa takes its name from strix, the Latin owl — not for the wisdom on the poster, but for the engineering. Total vision in the dark. Hearing precise enough to find what is hidden. A wing that moves without a sound. Watching is what it is built to do.
We started Strixa in Addis Ababa because running an organisation should not feel like fighting your software. A café does not close because the owner went home. A school does not stop because the registrar logged off. These are organisations that never fully sleep, and most of what they are sold was built somewhere else, for someone else, by people who do.
What we believe
Four values, each one falsifiable
You can point at a product decision and say it broke the rule. That is the only kind of value worth writing down.
Silent by default
Notifications are a cost, not a feature. If it can be resolved without telling anyone, we resolve it.
One click, not five
Every multi-step workflow is a design failure we haven't fixed yet. We compress ruthlessly.
Built for the floor
One hand free, bad light, no patience, real consequences. The boardroom view is downstream of the floor view.
Boring where it counts
Uptime, latency and data integrity are the floor, never a feature. Conservative in the engine, adventurous in the interface.
What we will not do
- Sell fear. We are vigilance, not surveillance.
- Treat the owl as a mascot. No puns, no wings, no character.
- Perform disruption. We replace infrastructure quietly.
- Lead with AI as the product. Intelligence is how it works, not what it is.
- Talk down to the floor. No “simply”, no “just”, no “easy”.
